Provision of Training Courses

Aqua Enviro Ltd

In association with Aqua Enviro Ltd I provide training courses on a range of subjects concerning the water industry. These include the following subjects, but individual courses can be tailored to meet the needs of the client.

Course
Description
Sludge utilisation
This course reviews the options for recycling waste water sludge to land. It covers the opportunities for utilising the various biosolids products on different types of land and crops, and in particular deals with means of complying with the Sludge Matrix.
Waste water disinfection Covers the reasons for waste water disinfection, the various techniques and their relative efficacy. It includes operational and maintenance issues and the key challenge of compliance with the current types of consent. Also included are alternatives to disinfection.
Tertiary treatment Covers removal of nutrients and residual suspended solids and BOD together with the processes for achieving the desired standards. Includes where appropriate both chemical and biological techniques.
Achieving bathing water quality The course provides a guide to the means necessary to optimise the benefits to bathing water quality following waste water sewerage and treatment schemes. It looks at ways of identifying sources of microbial contamination in urban and rural areas. It also covers working together with relevant organisations to find suitable remedies, with the aim of achieving guideline Directive standards.
Relating to the public Deals with building good relations with groups and individuals interested in, and potentially critical of, the policy and practices of water companies or authorities. Included are techniques for overcoming initial suspicion and for building partnerships with a range of organisations including pressure groups and local authorities, as well as the press and media.
Trade effluent control and charging This course deals with the regulation of trade discharges to sewer and the means for recovering the costs incurred. It covers the legislation, the form of the consent and the means available to control trade effluent quality, including enforcement. Charging is reviewed, including the economics of pre-treatment.
